Delegate Displeased At Pace of Justice Investigation

Sept, 26 — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen said today that she was displeased with the pace of the U.S. Justice Department investigation into alleged racial incidents on the island of St. John.
"The Justice Department has been too slow in the processing of evidence for this case," said Christensen on Monday, "and I have communicated my displeasure to the highest levels of the Justice Department in Washington. It is important to the peace and tranquility of our community that this case be brought to a close in a timely manner," she said. "The foot dragging we have seen thus far is simply unacceptable."
Delegate Christensen has been working with island ministers, community leaders and law enforcement officials on the resolution of this case ever since several alleged incidents have been reported and rumored on the island St. John which have heightened tensions and distrust. "The community has been patiently waiting for information and we have the right to a timely response to all our concerns," she concluded.
