A Fellow Musician Recalls Friday's Legend

0

Dear Source,
I am Greg Hogan, keyboard player for Elvis White band from Virgin Gorda. We are located in Atlanta. We heard the very sad news of Nick Friday's death on Tuesday night
While rehearsing for Miami Carnival, where we were scheduled to perform with Jam Band this coming Sunday, it was a shock; it was like losing a family member. It was pretty hard to continue after that.
I was not personally close to Nick, but I don't think if there were no Friday, I wouldn't be playing music in a band from the V.I. in the States. He inspired me with his great lyrics letting you know you can have great party songs with great lyrics, The way he made all of his fans feel so special that don't matter how great Jam Band was they did not what to hear them unless Daddy Friday was on the mic. Every time people believed he had his last hit, he would surprise them, but not me because he was my hero, a hit machine and V.I. legend. There will always be singers but never another Nick Friday. I know tens of thousands of his fans would hope we honor him the way he deserves. Don't cancel all the carnivals in the V.I. as yet. I think Friday will still be writing hit songs in heaven with Bob Marley and other legends that bless us with their great music. A die-hard Daddy Friday fan.
