Oct. 25, 2005 The Tempo musical concert at the Ann Abramson Pier Thursday is expected to draw a big crowd.
Novelle E. Francis Jr., territorial police chief, noted that to accommodate the crowd, some new parking restrictions will be enforced.
The no parking restrictions will be in effect from 8 a.m. until midnight on the following streets:
King Street from the intersection of King and Market streets to Lagoon Street.
Custom House Street from Strand Street to the intersection of King and Custom House streets both sides.
In and around Buddhoe Park.
There will be no parking on Strand Street from 4 p.m. to midnight due to construction.
The no parking measures are to ensure access for security and emergency vehicles.
Francis, in a press release, gave thanks to community for cooperating in the past and added, "I and Police Commissioner Lewis wish you a safe and enjoyable evening of music and song."
Any vehicle found parked in prohibited areas will be ticketed and/or towed away at the owner's expense. Owners or drivers finding that his/her vehicle has been towed should contact the Wilbur Francis Command at Mars Hill at 772- 2800, 778-2211 or 911 for further information.
