Funeral Arrangements Announced for Prof. Evelyn Lallemand
A viewing of UVI French instructor Prof. Evelyn Lallemand, who died on Sunday, Oct. 23, is scheduled at John Thomas Funeral Home from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. A funeral mass is scheduled at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Mafolie.
Prof. Ana Hartig-Ferrer to Present Colloquium on Spanish Architect Oct. 28
UVI faculty, staff, students and friends are invited to a Humanities and Social Sciences Division Colloquium from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. The featured speaker will be UVI Spanish Prof. Ana Hartig-Ferrer. Her topic will be: Antonio Gaudi: Modernist Architect in Barcelona, Spain. The Colloquium will be available in Teacher Education room 101 on the St. Thomas campus, with a videoconference link to Evans Center room 713 on the St. Croix campus. Communication Excellence Club Set Bake Sale for Oct. 28
The Communication Excellence Club on UVI's St. Thomas campus will conduct a bake sale at the Classroom Administration Building at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. For details, call 693-1153.
World Food Day Cancelled; Seedling Distribution Set for Oct. 28
World Food Day activities planned for this month at the University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix campus have been cancelled. However, one of the day's planned events, the distribution of 2,000 vegetable seedlings, will take place between 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. Persons interested in getting free seedlings to start their own vegetable gardens can pick them up on the north side of the UVI Research and Extension Center. Individuals are asked to bring their own containers to hold the seedlings. For more information, call Clarke at 692-4060.
UVI St. Thomas Class of 2006 Meeting Set Oct. 29
There will be a general meeting for perspective graduates for the UVI class of 2006 at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. The meeting will be held at Chase Auditorium on the St. Thomas campus. UVI Jazz Ensemble Sets Concert for Saturday, Oct. 29, on St. Thomas
The UVI Music Department will present a UVI Jazz Ensemble Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Dinning Pavilion on the St. Thomas campus. The works of big band composers Duke Ellington, Thad Jones and Bob Mintzer will be featured. The concert will also highlight the vocal talents of UVI music majors Detra Davis, Danielle Greenaway, Vashti Hooker and Eugenia Chapman. Monet Davis will perform on clarinet and piano. Tickets — $10 for adults and $5 for students — are available in the Humanities Division Office, the Music Building, from ensemble members and at the door. October 30 Is Application Deadline for Spring Semester 2006
The spring semester at the University of the Virgin Islands starts on Jan.12, 2006. In order to be admitted to the UVI for this term, all new students must submit all of the following on or before the deadline of Oct. 30, 2005: an admissions application; official CXC, CAPE or GCE results, if applicable; official high school and/or college transcript(s) or GED verification; non-refundable $25 application fee (certified check or money order only); official test results: ACT/SAT (all undergraduate students) GMAT (MPA & MBA applicants). UVI Qualifies Three for ODI Singles Championship on St. Croix
Three University of the Virgin Islands tennis players – Alex Dennis and David Hartzell in the men's category, and Heather Addor in the women's category – qualified for singles division competition in the upcoming ODI Tennis Championships. UVI will host the championships on Nov. 11-12 at the Buccaneer Hotel Tennis Club on St. Croix. Dennis and Hartzell finished in third place in last weekend's qualifier held at UPR-Aquadilla, while Addor finished in fourth place. ODI men's and women's doubles qualifier competition is scheduled this weekend in Torrimar, Puerto Rico. UVI will be represented by Dennis and Hartzell in the men's category. The team of Leona Hendrickson and Marelle Sylvester will represent UVI in the women's category. A top four finish is needed in the qualifier to secure a place in the ODI Championships on St. Croix. Advisement and Registration for Continuing UVI Students Begins Oct. 31
Continuing student advisement and registration for spring semester 2006 at UVI begins Monday, Oct. 31, and continues through Thursday, Nov. 10.

The newsletter features coverage of the recent UVI Nursing division health disparities conference and a story about how the University has reaffirmed its commitment to placing the needs of students first.
MBA Comprehensive Exam Set Nov. 18; Registration Deadline Is Nov. 10
The UVI Business Division will offer the MBA Comprehensive Examination from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. The exam will be administered in the Sports & Fitness room 222, on the St. Thomas campus and in Research Extension room 139 on the St. Croix campus. The deadline to register for the exam is Thursday, Nov. 10. Applications and review guidelines can be picked up in the Business Division Office. For more information, call 693-1300.
