News Brief: Power Outage Delays Cruise Ship in Crown Bay

A power outage aboard the Sun Princess delayed the cruise ship at least two hours in Crown Bay Tuesday, officials said Tuesday night.
Except for emergency lights, the ship sat in darkness until 8 p.m., two hours later than it was scheduled to leave for Martinique, said Mark Sabino, dock master for the West Indian Co. Ltd.
It wasn't immediately clear when the power went out or what caused it, Sabino said.
He said power outages aboard cruise ships are infrequent, but not unheard of.
The ship is owned by Santa Clarita, California-based Princess Cruises left Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Oct. 29.
Karen Tetherow, a company spokeswoman in California, said she hadn't heard of the problem but would contact the ship Wednesday.
The ship can accommodate 1,950 passengers.
