Father Moody answered his calling in 1960, and then pursued his studies for the priesthood from 1960 to 1966. He attended St. Mary's Seminary in Northeast, Penn., and from 1966 to 1970 he studied at St. Alphonsus College in Suffield, Conn. After that it was at Mount Saint Alphonsus in Esopus, N.Y. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 25, 1973, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, thus making him the first Redemptorist Virgin Islander to be ordained on his home island.

He is also survived by nieces: Vallissha Johnson, Sheverne Oney, Michelle Nielsen, Kishma and Raquesha Brown, Natasha and Anissa Moody; and nephews: Alvin Brown II and Ryan Adams.
