May 21, 2008 – St. George Village Botanical Garden will be open on Memorial Day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, May 26.
The 16-acre garden is located five miles east of the town of Frederiksted, just off Queen Mary Highway (Route 70) on the site of a former 19th Century Danish sugarcane plantation. Its living collections include more than 1,500 native and exotic species and varieties. It is a center of education for better understanding not only of the island's botanical heritage but also the horticultural potential for contemporary gardening in the Virgin Islands.
The Garden's air-conditioned Museum Store, with an array of unique gift items, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There is an admission charge to visit the garden; there is no admission just to visit the Museum Store.
