Sept. 8, 2008 — A male minor is in critical condition at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital after he was shot in the head Sunday night while walking with two other people in Estate Bethlehem.
Police spokeswoman Melody Rames said in a statement Monday that two other males, ages 17 and 27, were also shot.
Rames said the 17-year-old sustained a flesh wound while the adult male suffered a number of gunshot wounds to the body.
Hospital spokesman Rashidi Clenance said Monday afternoon the adult male remains hospitalized in stable condition. Clenance said the second minor with the flesh wound had been treated and released.
Rames said gunshots were reported to 911 about 10:30 p.m. Sunday night and that the victims were apparently taken to the hospital in a private car. Police were notified by hospital staff about the victims, she said.
Rames said the two minors and the adult male were walking on a public road in Estate Bethlehem when they heard gunshots and began running. No further information was available.
Police said there were no witnesses to the incident and is urging anyone with information that could lead to an arrest to contact the Investigations Bureau at 778-2211 or call 911. Callers can remain anonymous.
