A Brief Life, A Beacon

Dear Source:
How did a young, white, stateside lawyer make such a profound impact on this community in such a short space of time? I think it was his purity of heart, the ability to see with genuine appreciation the beauty of the people he encountered. There was no trace of arrogance or superiority in his approach to this community. He saw his work as worship, and was here to serve. He embraced a culture far different than his own, with curiosity and exuberant acceptance. Most importantly his life was guided by his unwavering commitment to his understanding of spiritual principles, and how they must be lived, not just preached.
His brief life has truly been a beacon for those serious about a spiritual path to follow. "The essence of faith is fewness of words but abundance of deeds."

Joan Bennett-Williams
St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
