Rotary Club to Hold Health Fair and Blood Drive

Rotary Clubs of St. Croix and Harborside in conjunction with St. Croix Rescue and with participation from V.I. CARE and the Department of Health will be holding their fourth annual health fair and blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the St. Croix Rescue Academy near Five Corners.
The health fair will be open to everyone and all services provided will be free and will include health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, skin problems and back ailments. Vision Center will be on hand providing screenings for eye problems and VI CARE will offer confidential HIV testing in a private area. There will be presentations on mental health and natural medicine. Among the many medical and health professionals that will be present are: Dr. Carolyn Merritt, dermatologist; Dr. Ian Cook, podiatrist; Dr. Alicia Lewitt, chiropractor; Dr. Kirana Kafalos, holistic specialist; Dr. Dianne Brinker, mental health expert and Yvonne Galiber, breast cancer survivor.
One of the major features of the health fair in which everyone can participate will be the blood drive. The blood mobile unit from Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital will be available to take blood donations. All types are needed and all blood donated benefits the patients at the local hospital. Everyone is encouraged to stop by and donate blood and help save a life.
St. Croix Rescue will also be conducting a major demonstration, displaying their real-time training and life-saving skills. Entertainment will be provided for children.
