The annual Father’s Day activities in Frenchtown, scheduled for June 19-21, will get off to an early start this weekend when The Committee for the Betterment of Carenage and Offshore Marine host the annual fishing tournament on Sunday, June 7.
Fishing will take place from 5:30 a.m. to noon with anglers vying for a top prize of $2,000 for the angler with the biggest qualifying fish. Anglers will return to the bay side for the weigh-in at the midday hour at the Gustave Quetel Fishing Center in Frenchtown. There will be music, food and drinks for all.
"Offshore Marine and CBC have joined forces for years to present this annual tournament. This year Premier Wines and Spirits has joined the committee in sponsoring this annual event," said Gail Danet-Joseph, chairperson of the fishing tournament committee. She said the winners of Sunday’s tourney as well as the Mother’s Day Tournament, held two weeks ago, will be announced as part of the annual Father’s Day Celebration on the night of June 21.
Fishing tournament registration will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 6, at the Joseph Aubain Ball Park concession building. Also on Saturday, CBC will host a food sale at the concession building.
