Rebels Crush Injectables; Heat Burns Corrections

June 24, 2009 — The Rebels blasted the Juan Luis Hospital Injectables, 17-3, in a ten-run mercy ruled five innings contest, and Wyatt Heat outlasted Corrections, 9-6, in the Governmental and Industrial Coed Softball League’s Tuesday night action at the Renholdt Jackson Sport Complex.

In Tuesday's first game the Rebels exploded for six first-innings runs and never looked back, crushing the Juan Luis Hospitals Injectables 17-3 in five innings. The Rebels scored 17 runs on 17 hits and two errors while the Injectables plated three runs on seven hits and committed seven errors. Virgilio Diaz got the win on the mound for the Rebels while Reuben Molloy took the loss for the Injectables.
Top batters for the winners were David Clarke, 3 for 4 with four RBIs; Darwin Dowling, 1 for 1 with a home run and three RBIs; and Mervin Mills, 1 for 1 with a home run and two RBIs. For the Injectables, Jusel Morales was 2 for 2 and Rashawn Foster and Kenny Milligan were both 1 for 2 with a home run and RBI each.
Wyatt Heat 9, Corrections 6
Wyatt Heat continued atop the league standings by beating Corrections 9-6 in Tuesday's second day. Wyatt Heat scored its nine runs on eight hits and one error, while Corrections finished with six runs on seven hits and three errors. The winning pitcher was Moises Melendez and Max Velasquez got the loss for Corrections.
Enrique Soto was 1 for 4 with a grand slam home run and four RBIs to lead the Heat offensively and teammate Eric Perez chipped in, going 1 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs. For Corrections, Jose Guerra was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and David Clarke was 2 for 4 with two home runs and two RBIs.
