Shamir Jonathan James, also known as "Mesha," of Naples, Florida, died on Jan. 6, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 21 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Cereta James; father, Peter James; grandparent, Phillip James; sisters: Karen and Kerri Bess; brothers: Ivan Mark, Erwin Richard, Elroy Richard, Joseph Bess III, Peter James Jr., Javed James and Darren James; nieces: Iva McFarlan, Christy McFarlan, T’Shane Mark, Kezian Paul and E’leeya Richard; nephews: Alton McFarlon, Akeem Mark, Jahmai Paul, Eli Richard, Ivante Mark and Isiah Mark; and great nephew, Kymani McFarlon. He is also survived by aunts: Greta Mark, Mary Mark, Joyce Mark and Althea James; uncles: John Mark, Cuthert James and Gilbert James; cousins and other relatives: Elver, Junnie, Sharimil, Clent, Eily, Samantha, Clercin, Brandon James, Janice, Shenelle, Shanelle, Isha, David, Tony and Mark; special friends: Parker Correll, Shay Ferris, Jermaine Moffat and Joseph Moffat; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
