Weston Sprott, second trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra of New York, will be featured in a solo recital, accompanied by Gylchris Sprauve, pianist, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the historic Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charlotte Amalie. The concert is free for all to attend, and a free-will offering will be collected. Sprott, a Houston native, was appointed to the world-famous Metropolitan Opera Orchestra about five years ago and is one of the youngest members of this fine ensemble, which ranks among the top 10 orchestras of the world.
Sprott will also be presenting master classes for lower brass students from Tuesday, Jan. 26 through Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Charlotte Amalie High School in the Band Room, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on all three days.
