Valentine’s Day Time to Say 'I Do' Again

Romance will be in the air when couples gather Monday, Valentine’s Day, at Trunk Bay to renew their vows.

This year marks the ninth anniversary of the Valentine’s Day Vow Renewal Celebration called a Celebration of Love, which begins at 5 p.m.

“What better way to honor your partner than to marry them again,” said nondenominational minister Anne Marie Porter, who officiates at the ceremony.

Over the years, more than 700 couples participated, Porter said.

“It’s such a meaningful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” Porter said.

The sincerity of the couples who reaffirm their vows stands out most for Porter.

On Monday couples will be welcomed with flute music by Michael Banzhaf, Shakima Jones will sing love songs on the beach, and Albion Sewer will entertain with steel pan music.

Each couple receives a complimentary certificate, and the women all get a rose.

Free transportation to and from the Cruz Bay ferry dock is provided. It will leave the ferry dock at 4:30 p.m. and return when the ceremony is over.

A taxi driver named Charles will be stationed on the ferry dock with a sign letting arriving passengers know where to go, Porter said, adding that his taxi is red.
