The human resource function is a vital contributor to the success of any organization. Individuals new to the Human Resource (HR) profession or recently promoted professionals can now benefit from a workshop that covers virtually every aspect of human resources management. “Fundamentals of Human Resource Management”will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16. On St. Croix, sessions will be held at the Joseph A. Simpson Building, No. 23A Hospital Street in Frederiksted. On St. Thomas, the workshop will be held at the UVICELL Center on the St. Thomas campus.
The workshop is part of a series being offered by the University of the Virgin Islands – Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center in conjunction with the American Management Association (AMA). Participants will learn the essentials of key HR functions such as implementing a results-based performance management system; writing job descriptions and specifications; developing cost-effective, competitive compensation and benefits programs; recruiting, selecting, interviewing and hiring employees in compliance with federal and state laws and more.
