With the Santo Domingo independence celebrations taking center stage on Sunday at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park, all Elmo Plaskett Little League East games for that day were cancelled. There were, however, three games contested on Saturday in the Pee Wee, 7-9, and 10-12 divisions.
Li’l Angels 16, Li’l Yankees 0
In game one Saturday, contested in 7-9 division, the Angels’ Jabari Davis scattered three hits and his offense exploded for 16 runs as they whitewashed the Yankees 16-0. It was the Angels with 16 runs on 12 hits and three errors, while the Yankees finished with no runs and three hits. Azeri Miller got the loss for the L ‘Il Yankees. Top batters for the winners were Alex Rivera (3 for 3 with two RBIs) and Jonathan Dennis (2 for 3 with two RBIs). For the Li’l Yankees Masiah Rosario was 1 for 2.
Li’l Angels 16, V.I. Giants 12
In the T-ball, Pee Wee Division, the Li’l Angels outlasted the V.I. Giants 16-12. Top hitters for the Li’l Angels were Malik Merchant (2 for 3 with a home run two RBIs) and Malarchi Edwards (1 for 2 with three RBIs). For the V.I. Giants, Tyler Archibald was 1 for 2 with two RBIs, and D’lani Charles was 2 for 3 with one RBI.
Angels 13, Blazers 12
In Saturday’s late game, contested in the 10-12 division, the Angels edged the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School Blazers in a 23-hit slugfest by a score of 13-12.
It was the Angels with 13 runs on 11 hits and three errors, while the Blazers finished with 12 runs on 12 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Jesus Delerme and Dejai Felix got the loss. Top batters for the winners were Rashawn Bergan (2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs) and Shamie Roebuck (2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs). For the Blazers, Devon Daniels was 2 for 3 with a home run and one RBI, and Ishmael Gomzalez was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
