Paulette V. Jenkins DeWindt, also known as “Auntie” or “Mommy,” died on March 14, at her residence. She was 58 years old.
She is survived by her daughters:Bebe Anna Ortiz DeWindt Carty, Julie & Carolyn DeWindt, Teresa DeWindt Walker and Annie Patrick; sister, Annette Singleton; brothers: Paul, Wade Jenkins and Vernol Turnbull; aunt, Bebe Sewer; great aunt, Vickie McGee; uncle, Mario Poppy Ortiz; former husband, Cecil H. DeWindt; and former mother-in-law, Ethlyn DeWindt.
She is also survived by grandsons: Lu-Anna Cantois, Akima Christopher, A’kela Christopher, Ly-iseha Cantois, Ali-yeah Cantois, Africa Jardine, Izzre-L Jardine, T’Ajah Barnaby, Paris Angelina Walker and Badliannie Paris; granddaughters: Lu-Anna Cantois, Akima Christopher, A’kela Christopher, Ly-iseha Cantois, Ali-yeah Cantois, Africa Jardine, Izzre-L Jardine, T’Ajah Barnaby, Paris Angelina Walker and Badliannie Paris; great-granddaughter, Li-Niaya Amanda Cantois; nieces: Kimberly Turnbull, Delrose Turnbull, Almida Venzen Jones, Alisa Gordan, Tamika DeWindt, Vanayia Jenkins and Crystal Jenkins; nephews: Joey Ortiz, Anthony Singleton, Nevil Patrick, Tyrone Turnbull, Tarvis DeWindt, Tiant DeWindt, Alanzo Venzen, Alfrado Venzen, Juryel DeWindt Serrant, Lamar Jenkinsand Paul Jenkins; cousins: Lizetta Robles, Helena Robles, Cookie, Fat Mommy, Sputrick; and godson and David Dennis.
Other survivors include adopted daughters: Cindy Baily, Maria Baily, Harriette Harrigan, Sherille Joseph, Ethlyen C. DeWindt, Maria Ortiz Lindo, Merylne Harrigan and Kneka DeWindt; adopted sons: Jefferson Hazelwood, Noel Mayers, Calvin Wells, Emerson Knight, Curtis Fredricks, Ettien Brothers and Genridge Christopher; adopted grandchildren: Amisha Charles, Nisha Christopher, Genisha Christopher, Jah-Nisha Christopher, Inisha Christopher and Lenado DeWindt; sisters-in-law: Hycittin Turnbull and Julie-Anne DeWindt; brothers-in-law: Raymond DeWindt and Melvin DeWindt; sons-in-law: Liston Cantois Sr., Dale Carty, Antonio Christopher, Devon Blash, George Baptiste III and Terrance Walker; special friends: Jerride, Pearlina Barry, Lorna Mulley, Eltria Scatliffe, Mr. and Mrs. Aluanie, and Nicollette Alexander; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: Anna Robles Ortiz (mother), Aaron Jenkins (father) , Caroline Ortiz (grandmother) and Teresa Jenkins (sister).
There will be a first viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 25, at the Davis Funeral home Chapel. There will be a second viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at Word of Faith Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 2
