Country Day School Presents “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”

0

The classic children’s story “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is coming to the stage at St. Croix Country Day School. Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of the book, which features the songs from the original family film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” There are additional, entertaining new songs by the creators of the original movie score, Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, with adaptations for the stage made by Timothy McDonald.
Country Day School’s production is fast-paced, perfect for children, and has a cast of over 40 students from the second grade to twelfth grade. There will also be a special Willy Wonka Golden Ticket raffle—every fourth chocolate bar will have a Golden Ticket with a fabulous prize.
Annaly Babb-Guerra directs this family-friendly musical with vocal direction by Derek Anderson and musical direction by Ben Williams. The performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, April 8, 9, 15 and and 16; there will be a special Sunday Matinee performance at 4 p.m. on April 17. All shows will take place in the Country Day School Pavilion. Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults.
