The University of the Virgin Islands – Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (CELL) Center is developing a series of workshops to inform V.I. residents and business owners about methods of energy conservation. To access how much the public knows about conserving energy, UVICELL conducted a survey (separately for residential consumers and businesses) concerning their efforts to reduce their electric bill through energy efficiency.
The online survey was launched in December and remained open until March 15. As an incentive for participation, the online survey offered participants a chance to enter the drawingto win a $200 American Express Gift Card. Of the 203 online responses, Ruth A. Dublin of St. Croix emerged the winner of the drawing.
The energy education workshops, which will begin in May, were made possible by a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act administrated through the V.I. Energy Office.
UVICELL will present the gift card to Dublin, at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, at the Great House (Provost’s Office) on UVI campus, St. Croix. Staff members from CELL and the VIEO will be available to answer questions about what was learned from the survey and how the upcoming workshops will be conducted.
