Sylvania Daisy Josephine Black Golphin of Estate Grove Place died on July 10, at her residence. She was 72 years old.
She is survived by her companion, Clifton Maroney; son, Charles Golphin Jr.; daughter-in-law, Trudi Cowan Golphin; stepdaughter, Tonya Alvarez; brother-in-law, Arthur Golphin; sisters-in-law: Gloria Golphin and Margarett C. Black; nieces: Margarett Leigh Black and Rachel Vonita Black; nephews: Kevin Golphin, John Golphin III, Mark Golphin, Rev. Michael Golphin, Carlton Black and Gary Black; great nieces: Quaina Golphin, Tiffany Golphin, Mishaya Black, Sequia D. Black, Jheria Black, Aynia Black, Aynoia Black and Elia Black; and great nephews: Michael Golphin Jr. and Isiah Golphin.
She is also survived by goddaughter, Khahila Miller and family; godson: Nyah Bingie Miller; special friends: Brian McDaniels, Bobby Milton and Bernadine Pence, Wallace Williams, Mamadoa Johnson, the Altona Church family and Friends of the Library; cousins and other relatives: Joseph Bradford, Vincent Hartsfield, Sonya Hartsfield, Ms. Hilton, Claretta Manigo, Denise Dorsey, Stacey Williams, Althea Johnson, Leon Dorsey III, Larry Dorsey, Robert Dorsey Sr., Terri Dorsey and Robert Dorsey Jr.; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, at the Altona Baptist Church. A birthday celebration will take place on Friday, July 29, all day at the Lagoon Beach. Donations should be made to the Hounds & Foxes Track Club.
