An impressive array of student artwork is now available for public viewing at the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s Main Lobby for all to enjoy.
The exhibition is part of International Capital and Management Company’s (ICMC) Ninth Annual Student Hall of Hope Art Exhibition and Fun Day that honors the artistic talents and creativity of Virgin Island students. Each year, ICMC invites public, elementary and middle school students on St. Thomas to create works of art and display their personal renditions of “Celebrate Life,” in recognition of their client, Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s annual Celebrate Life event.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for us at ICMC to offer young people the positive ‘Celebrate Life’ message as well as the importance of health awareness, overcoming challenges and defeating the odds whatever they may be,” said ICMC President Cornel Williams.
The company provides all of the art materials necessary for each representing class to create the work of art around the theme, and the event culminates in a fun-day and much-celebrated art show, inclusive of awards, student performances and fun-filled activity stations for all attendees. This year the art show took place in May at The Reichhold Center for the Arts and drew over 200 public school attendees.
“The event has proven to be very meaningful over the years, due to the commitment of administrators, art teachers and parents alike, who have worked in collaboration with ICMC to make the event a success,” saie Karen Nelson-Hughes, ICMC’s community relations manager.
In addition to the company’s commitment to support the Virgin Islands community with this annual event, and in an effort to further support the children of the Virgin Islands to expand their creative horizons, ICMC has also put in place a quarterly art supplies program that has been on-going since 2010. It offers public schools a consistent avenue of support via a regular donation of art supplies to the tune of $2,000 annually, made available to elementary and middle school art teachers on St. Thomas.
