Government House said Sunday that Director of Communications Jean P. Greaux Jr. was the victim of an apparent hit and run motor vehicle accident Sunday morning.
The accident was reported just before 5 a.m.
According to a Virgin Islands Police Department Traffic Bureau investigation, Greaux was driving on the Hull Bay Road en route to his home from Government House when his vehicle, the government-owned vehicle assigned to him, was sideswiped by the operator of a dark-colored sports utility vehicle.
The operator of that vehicle did not stop at the scene of the accident.
The impact of the accident spun Greaux’s vehicle out of control, which resulted in its careening over an embankment. The government vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, rolled several times before coming to stop against the edge of a broken guard rail and a tree.
The vehicle was heavily damaged in the accident.
Greaux was treated for minor injuries and released from the Schneider Regional Medical Center on Sunday.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident, seen a dark colored SUV speeding away from the Hull Bay Road towards Drake’s Seat Sunday morning or may have since seen a dark-colored sports utility vehicle with heavy damage to its front end or passenger side. Witnesses are asked to contact Traffic Bureau officers at the V.I. Police Department.
Officers of the VIPD Traffic Bureau, St. Thomas Rescue and Department of Public Works personnel responded to the accident scene.
Ooookey… Sunday, close to 5:00am… The questions are unavoidable:
1) Is there any chance he fell asleep behind the wheel?
2) Was an alcohol test performed & where are the results?
After all, it was not his car, it was a government vehicle paid for by the citizens… The chances of finding a witness are NIL…
I believe it. Happens all the time. Government employee leaving work at 5am Sunday. Rolls government car. No witnesses. Priceless.
So Sunday night at 8pm Government House issues a statement.
– was a report taken at the accident scene?
– were photos taken?
– was a roadside breathalyzer test performed?
– was a blood alcohol test performed?
– why would he be leaving Government House at that time?
– is there a signout log to verify that Mr. Greaux was indeed at Government House?
– how about if just for once, someone within this Administration tells the truth, just once.
The entire group of them need to be GONE!!! Not one member of this Administration is to be trusted. Not one!
I think everyone is right but just in case he wasn’t drunk and was run off the road by a dark colored SUV at 5am it shouldn’t be hard to find there all over the place with government tags on. And don’t bother looking for front end damage cause they all have that too since the drivers are never responsible for their action especially at 5am.
