A man was injured Tuesday when he was struck by an object that had fallen or been thrown at him, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where they spoke with a man who being treated for a head wound.

The victim told police he was walking in to the Michael J. Kirwin Terrace housing community when he felt something strike him on the side of his face and above his right eye. He told police he did not know what struck him and he did not see anyone in the area.

Medical staff told police that the victim sustained a laceration to his right eyelid and on the left side of his check.

This case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
