Boy Injured in Traffic Accident

1

A 12-year-old boy was injured Tuesday afternoon when he got startled while walking, jumped into the road and was struck by a passing vehicle, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Traffic Investigation Bureau officers on St. Thomas said that the injured student blamed an iguana for the incident.

According to police, the Moravian School student was walking towards the Nisky Center about 2:45 p.m. He told police an iguana on the sidewalk startled him, causing him to leap into the street directly into the path of an oncoming Ford Ranger that was traveling west on Moravian Highway.

The boy landed on the hood of the car and sustained bruises on his left forearm and back.

Traffic Investigation Bureau officers continue to investigate this case.
