UVI Appoints Lansiquot Dean of the School of Nursing

Beverley Anne Lansiquot, Ph.D. The University of the Virgin Islands has appointed Dr. Beverley Anne Lansiquot to serve as dean of the School of Nursing. Lansiquot is a graduate of the College of the Virgin Islands (now UVI), having earned her associate degree in nursing on the St. Thomas campus. She began her tenure at UVI in July.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lansiquot back to the University of the Virgin Islands to inspire those who are now in the seats in which she sat years ago as a student,” said UVI Provost Dr. Camille McKayle. “Dr. Lansiquot brings to the university years of administrative experience, and I look forward to working with her to enhance and grow our strong nursing programs.”
Lansiquot previously held leadership positions at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College on St. Lucia and served as vice president for academics at the American International Medical University, also on St. Lucia. She has served on several regional organizations including the executive committee of the Association of Caribbean Tertiary Institutions and the Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida in Tampa, along with a Doctorate in Nursing practice from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, with a specialization in clinical leadership.
“Since attaining my advanced degrees, I have had a great desire to give back to the university by sharing my varied experiences as a nurse clinician, nurse educator and nurse leader,” said Lansiquot.
“In the short-term, our leadership team in the School of Nursing will work with partners within the university, the nursing sectors and our affiliates to develop a human resources development plan to build a human resources pool that will foster growth and sustainability of our programs,” she said. “Our team will review existing programs and design creative program delivery strategies that will increase access to existing programs while promoting career mobility in the territory.”
She is an alumna of the Public Health Leadership Institute and has since engaged in several transformative projects in higher education, health workforce strategy planning, mental health reform and nursing education. Lansiquot also continues to work with Case Western Reserve University on nursing-related projects whenever the opportunity arises. She is eager to build partnerships and looks forward to providing her services in the territory in areas and sectors that can benefit from her experiences and expertise.
“I think the University of the Virgin Islands gave me a tremendous education,” said Lansiquot. “My practice experiences in the territory on both St. Thomas and St. Croix shaped me to be the nurse leader I am today.”
