Adopt a Forever Pet

The Source wants to help reduce the overpopulation of unwanted pets in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Every week we will feature a dog or cat from the hardworking rescue organizations and hope someone will find their fur-ever friend on this site. (All animals have been vaccinated, neutered and are healthy.)

RCC Rarity (photo courtesy of Real Cruzan Cats)

We are repeating the bio of beautiful Rarity who has one white whisker and a few white hairs on her chest and belly. At four-months old, Rarity is chill, independent and keeps moving all day long. She is also well mannered, affectionate and loves back scratches. Although she is not a “lap kitty,” her foster mom catches her rubbing her feet in bed at night or cuddling with foster siblings.  She will do well in a house with another cat. She loves being outdoors and is awesome on a harness. Rarity has discovered trees are fun to climb. Visit www.realcruzancats.org to adopt this kitty and see others available for adoption.

AWC Handsome Dan (photo courtesy St. Croix Animal Welfare Center)

Handsome Dan arrived in mid-July with a severe case of non-contagious dermal mites, which causes hair loss and inflammation. Most animals have a natural immunity to this condition but poor nutrition or an autoimmune condition can made this infection erupt. Handsome Dan’s infection was so advanced that all of the skin on his body was inflamed and painful. With medical care and a whole lot of love, this shelter favorite is healthy, happy and ready for his FURever home. He is waiting for a family at The Pet Place, next to Food Town. This sweet and frisky boy is 4 1/2- months old. He plays fetch, loves snuggles and attention, and will make a loyal and grateful best friend.
