Feb. 7, 2006 – Governor Charles W. Turnbull, today on behalf of the people and Government of the United States Virgin Islands, extended deepest condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues of Harold "Hal" Hatfield on the sad occasion of his passing.
The Governor said, "Mr. Hatfield came to the Virgin Islands as a young energetic, intellectual and generous individual eager to leave an indelible mark on the people of the Virgin Islands. This he did through his work in the Legal Counsel's Office of the Legislature, writing and editing Legislation, and his extraordinary investigative reporting and editing skills during his tenure with the Virgin Islands Daily News. Mr. Hatfield was also employed in the Governor's Office of Public Relations serving under former governor Roy Lester Schneider, He contributed positively to the betterment of his adopted home, and we are indeed grateful for his selfless dedication.
"As we mourn the passing of Mr. Hatfield, we give thanks to Almighty God for His countless blessings and ask Him to extend His comforting and sustaining grace to all who mourn during this time of bereavement. May his soul rest in peace," Governor Turnbull.
