Rafeal B. Soto Diaz, also known as “Rafy el Rasta,” died on Dec. 10. He was 36 years old.
He is survived by his spouse, Paulita Parrilla Soto; mother, Maria M. Diaz; father, Rafael B. Soto; grandmother, Leonor Asencio; sons: Rafael Axay, Yadiel Edgardo, Eric Jomar and Xavier Rafael Soto; father who raised him, Carlos Burgos Sr.; stepfather, Ismael Perez; sisters: Delia Soto, Amanda Soto, Yadira Soto, Yera Precious Burgos and Vanessa Burgos; and brothers: Carlos E. Soto, Carlos Burgos Jr., Victor Burgos, Alexis Soto, Luis Soto and Jose Soto. He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Ana Santiago, Shirlene Burgos and Florence Marsh; brothers-in-law: Daniel, Antonio and Samuel Parrilla, and Julio Ayala; nieces: Nakida, Maria-Jaritza, Jakishma Chalimar Soto, Natalize, Nashalize, Naidalize, Rosie and Venessia Burgos; nephews: Kymani, Eniel Soto, Lil Victor, Jahriel and Jan Carlos Burgos; aunts: Maria Maruca Batista, Rosa Ayala, Isabel Ayala, Naida Cena Diaz, Awilda Ayala, Carmen Diaz, Mercedes White, Leticia, Julia, Monsita, Genoveva Diaz, Doris, Delia and Zaida Soto; uncles: Efrain, Esteban, Carols Diaz, Pedro Cirilo, Eric Soto, Hector, Victor and Papo Gonsalez; special friends: Jahyouth, Tosh, Jeremine, Tim Dawg, Smokey, Apple, Inches, Joey, Brady Jr., David, Peewee, Shandorn, Chama, Georgie, Tony, Pochoco, Papotito, Ediel, Basketball Team (Vieques), Director Deportivo y Recreacion Municipio Vieques, Bigga and Eddie el Rasta; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention
A viewing will take place at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at La Iglesia Hispana Methodista La Santa Cruz, Royal Manor. Interment will follow at Frederiksted Cemetery.
